Lawn bowling tournaments raise $500 for hospice care – Collingwood News
Collingwood’s Lawn Bowling Club recently hosted two tournaments for members in support of the local Hospice Foundation.
The club raised $500 for the Georgian Triangle Hospice Foundation, donating the tournament fees to the local charity.
The 80 members in the club will be at it again on Oct. 4, bowling in a tournament in support of the Salvation Army Food Bank.
“We look forward to donating more next season,” said the club president Jane Moore.
Collingwood Lawn Bowling Club runs a season from mid-May until about Thanksgiving, depending on the weather.
Moore presented the $500 cheque to Sandra Sullivan, the executive director of The Hospice Georgian Triangle Foundation this week. She was joined by Peggy Dixon, the social coordinator for the club, Tom Peacock, the tournament director and general fix-all, and Tom Bell, the groundskeeper.
The Hospice Foundation is the charity supporting all the work of Hospice Georgian Triangle, including Cambell House and a range of free grief support programs and outreaches.
