Media Release | June 14, 2023 – COLLINGWOOD – Hospice Georgian Triangle is proud to share that Medical Director Dr. Alyssa Boyd was honoured with the Dr. S. Lawrence Librach Award for Palliative Medicine in the Community this week at the Hospice Palliative Care Ontario conference in Toronto. The board of directors and leadership of Hospice Georgian Triangle congratulates Dr. Boyd for this outstanding distinction.
This prestigious award is presented to one physician in Ontario who demonstrates excellence and leadership in palliative care and advances palliative care in their community through mentorship of family physicians.
“Dr. Boyd has embodied compassionate care in her work with patients, helping many people to live their best during and throughout their end-of-life care. Hospice Georgian Triangle nominated Dr. Boyd as she is a leader in the medical community, devoting her time to excellence in palliative care and education about pain and symptom management as well as access to resources for grief and bereavement counseling. About Dr. Larry Librach and the Award for Palliative Care in the Community
Dr. Larry Librach, MD, CCFP, FFCP began his medical career in 1970, and became an early presence in the field of palliative care in 1978 and was instrumental in shaping the Canadian approach to palliative care and palliative medicine.
Throughout his 35 years in palliative care, Dr. Librach was a teacher and mentor, an encouraging and enthusiastic colleague and friend who embraced every opportunity to give of himself, and who consistently inspired others to do the same.
The Dr. S.
