Hospice Georgian Triangle Staff and Volunteer Recognized with Prestigious Provincial Awards
Honours presented at the 2025 Hospice Palliative Care Ontario Conference
June 12, 2025 – COLLINGWOOD, ON. Hospice Georgian Triangle is proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of Personal Support Worker Myke Dyer and longtime volunteer Lorie Ring, who were both honoured this week with prestigious provincial awards at the Hospice Palliative Care Ontario (HPCO) Annual Conference.
Myke Dyer Honoured with Life and Death Matters PSW Award Myke Dyer received the Life and Death Matters Personal Support Worker Award, a provincial honour that recognizes exceptional care in hospice palliative work. The award, presented in memory of Frances Montgomery, acknowledges the vital role PSWs play in providing compassionate, person-centered end-of-life care.
“Myke is a deeply respected and valued member of our care team,” said Trish Rawn, Chief Executive Officer, Hospice Georgian Triangle. “He combines empathy and professionalism with a unique sense of humour that brings comfort to patients and families alike. He is truly one of a kind.”
Nominated by colleagues and supported with dozens of heartfelt letters, Myke was recognized for his unwavering compassion, respect for patient dignity, and tireless support for both patients and families. In accepting the award, Myke dedicated it to his late father, Peter, and acknowledged the support of his team at Hospice Georgian Triangle.
Lorie Ring Receives June Callwood Circle of Outstanding Volunteers Award Lorie Ring, a dedicated volunteer for over eight years, was presented with the June Callwood Award, which honours volunteers who exemplify the spirit and values of hospice care. The award was given during a special ceremony attended by over 900 delegates in Richmond Hill.
“We are thrilled to see Lorie’s commitment and passion recognized on a provincial level,” said Sandra Sullivan, Executive Director of the Hospice Georgian Triangle Foundation. “Her impact on our organization and community has been immeasurable.”
Lorie’s volunteer journey began with a local fundraising event and has since grown to include a wide range of roles—from community support visits to reception at Campbell House, coordinating events, and serving on the Communications Committee. Her dedication was especially evident during the COVID-19 pandemic, when her presence at reception helped ease the burden on clinical staff.
If you’ve attended a hospice event, visited Campbell House, or supported a fundraiser, chances are you’ve met Lorie. Her warmth, generosity, and willingness to help in any capacity are at the heart of the Hospice Georgian Triangle community.
These well-deserved honours for Myke and Lorie reflect the heart of hospice palliative care—compassion, dignity, and community. Hospice Georgian Triangle is incredibly grateful for their service and proud to celebrate their recognition at the provincial level.
Hospice Georgian Triangle provides compassionate, no-cost care to individuals with life-limiting illnesses and their families in Collingwood, Wasaga Beach, Clearview Township, and the Town of the Blue Mountains.
The Hospice Georgian Triangle Foundation raises the funds needed to deliver this essential care and support in the community and at Campbell House.
